The Buying Process

Buying a home can be a complex process but with a little knowledge you can maneuver through the home buying process with confidence. 

Buying a home offers great benefits it also comes with additional responsibilities. Before you begin looking for your perfect home -

Check your credit. Get a copy of your credit report and review it, make sure there are no surprises. If you have a good credit score than more mortgage options and lower rates will be available to you.

Get representation.  A Buyer’s Agent is always concerned with the buyers concerns and can be a vital asset when it comes to the complicated process of home buying. Purchasing without representation can be risky.

Get pre-approved for a loan. A pre-approval letter from a lender is critical if you would like to submit an offer to a seller.  The pre-approval letter lets sellers know you are serious and that you have financing available to you.

Decide what type of home you want.  Are you looking for a condo, townhome, duplex or single-family home?  How many bedrooms and how many baths?  Do you need a garage? What type of amenities would you like?  Do you need to be close to schools or medical facilities?

Once you have found a home make sure that you get a home inspection and that there is no hidden problems or repairs.   if there are repairs that are needed talk with your realtor about an appropriate discount on the price or different options that are available.

Home buying can be a fun adventure but it is necessary that you have a realtor to protect your interests and to answer all of your questions.
