Governor Rick Perry announced that the Texas economy is still strong despite the national economic turmoil. The Governor boasted that the state of Texas is better suited than any other state to weather this financial crisis. The Federal Reserve Bank has noted that the Texas economy is growing, however it is growing at a slower rate than in previous years.
Employment is growing in Texas, a modest 1.4 percent but still it is growing at a time when other states are floundering. The Texas real estate markets, such as Austin are also still strong.
Oil, natural gas and other exports continue to remain strong in Texas.
Texas has had a relatively solid year and although the future is unclear Texas is in a position to help overcome the current financial market turmoil.
