According to a new study presented in the Austin Business Journal, both Austin and San Antonio are good real estate values among college towns. The College Scorecard ranked 291 markets across the United States, with San Antonio ranking #6 and Austin #7. The rankings were determined by overall value and staying power during a tumultuous 2007.
San Antonio showed an 8.25% climb in home prices last year, while Austin was close behind with 7.95%. Austin has the University of Texas, St. Edward’s University and Austin Community College, as well as Texas State University in San Marcos close by.
With steady prices, growing economy, and a strong job market, college students are likely to find value and career in Austin.
