In March 2007, Neiman Marcus and Macy’s were the first large retailers to open as part of The Domain project. This June, however, an additional 600,000 square feet of commercial space will join the first phase’s substantial footprint of shops, restaurants, and offices. According to the Austin Business Journal, "a Dillard’s, a Village Road Show Theater, and a Dick’s Sporting Goods will anchor the project slated for completion in November 2009."
In addition to the shops, a new 340-room hotel, dubbed the Westin at The Domain, will also be a large part of the constuction.
This next phase will continue the quest to make the North Austin area a urban village, with an additional 411 residential units being added to the 400 from the first phase. The builders are hoping these additional units will meet the high demand.
