According to the U.S. Census Bureau, as reported in the Austin Business Journal, Austin recorded 4.3% population growth during 2007. Austin was the only Texas area to make the top ten in percent increased.
However, four metropolitan areas in our state did manage substantial numeric population increases. Dallas-Fort Worth topped that list, adding 162,250 people from 2006 to 2007, while Austin-Round Rock was eighth numerically.
With a sound economy, booming job market, and strong real estate market, Austin continues to top the country in livability.
