Mount Bonnell Park is the oldest tourist attraction in Austin, as it was created in the 1850s. It is also one of the most romantic spots in this Texas town. It is said that if a couple climbs the 100 stairs to the top once, they fall in love; twice and they become engaged; after three times, they will be married.
There is also a story that historians recount regarding two lovers;Golden Nell and her husband, Beau and how they had to jump off the 785-foot peak of Mount Bonnell as to not be captured and tortured by Native American Indians.
Once at the top, visitors will enjoy the spectacular views of rolling hills, Lake Austin, the bridge and incredible views of the city lights at night. This is also the perfet place to enjoy sunrise and sunset at this scenic spot.
