The Domain opens its doors - residential units coming soon

Austin Texas luxury residential living got a huge boost recently with the opening of the upscale mixed-use urban center The Domain, with top-ranked retail such as Neiman Marcus, hi-end eateries such as McCormick & Schmick’s and the Kona Grill, and other such venerable institutions of largesse such as Barney’s and Louis Vitton.

But, in a twist on the old Main Street concept, developers Simon Property Group and Endeavor Real Estate chose to top these establishments with residential apartments…and opted to go ulta high-end as well!

Sources tell me one of the pricier 1-bedroom loft-style apartments (not condo … but apartment) will rent for over $2400 per month!  Now, for the purported 1,164 square feet of living space, this is a whopping $200 plus per square foot!  I’m not sure Austin is ready for such price points, especially mid-town…but again my sources tell me that already some tenants have moved in.

What’s next?  Price escalation in the Arboretum area too?  Say it isn’t so!

The Domain certainly offers…rather, WILL offer, a nice environment to call home.  That is, if you enjoy 4-6 story apartment living situated over popular retail and commercial establishments. 

Gee, I wonder how much a loaf of bread will cost at the nearby grocery mart?
