According to the Austin Business Journal, a new Forbes Magazine report is showing that the bottled water industry is drying up slightly over environmental concerns. With the large amount of petroleum needed to manufacture plastic bottles, more and more environmentally conscious US residents are drinking water from the tap.
Over safety concerns, however, the water from our taps is being tested and rated. Austin’s water came in number two in cleanliness, only behind Des Moines, Iowa nationally. According to the article, "the rankings were based on cloudiness of water or turbidity, bacteria, haloacetic acids and lead."
Once again, Austin hits near the top of a national list. With such a local push towards green living, however, is it any wonder the water runs clear?
