Lance Armstrong unveils new commuter cycling depot

Seven-time Tour de France winner and Austin resident Lance Armstrong unveiled plans for the rehab of a building located at Fourth and Nueces Streets to be turned into a commuter center for cyclists, featuring a 50′s-style cafe, showers, and training area.

Basing the idea on others that exist in the Protland, Orgeon area, Armstrong and his partners in the venture including General Partner Bart Knaggs and architecht Michael Hsu want to encourage cyclists to abandon their gas-guzzling vehicles in favor of the two-wheeled, self-propelled kind.  This effort coincides with the downtown urbanization, and will help reduce traffic congestion as well as emissions in the downtown core.
