Lake Austin is a beautiful reservoir located on the Colorado River in Austin, Texas. It was created in 1939 with the construction of the Tom Miller Dam. Lake Austin is one of seven Highland Lakes, a chain of seven man-made lakes in Central Texas. These lakes were formed by the Lower Colorado River Authority to help prevent flooding, create electrical power and to offer a multitude of recreation opportunities.
Lake Austin is more then 1,500 acres and is socked with many species of fish including large mouth bass, catfish and sunfish. The lake offers a potential for trophy fishing. In addition to fishing, the lake is also a wonderful place for motor-boating and sailing.
