How to buy Austin land with confidence

People dream about the idea of building their perfect home on the perfect acreage.

But there can be drawbacks to buying land. For instance, many times it is very difficult to find construction workers or skilled craftsmen to travel that far and may ask for higher wages to compensate for the extra distance.  Delivery and transportation costs for building supplies will be more expensive than if building close to town.  Many modern conveniences like electricity or telephone may not be available or not be reliable.

 Before purchasing land consider the following:

Zoning Requirements-Make sure that you can build the type of home you want before you buy any land.

Check Natural Hazards- Is the area a fire hazard, in the flood plan, are there any soil problems?

Easements- Do you need an easement to gain entry of the property?  Do neighbors have to cross your land for access?

Utilities-Can you dig a well on the property? Is electricity already established on the property or does it need to be introduced?  How reliable is it?

There is nothing more rewarding than owning your own land but it is important to know what your getting into and make sure you have all of the information up front before you buy.
