Founded in 1987 the University of Texas Performing Arts Center has become one of the largest and most celebrated university arts centers in the United States.  This venue has without a doubt helped establish Austin as an international educational, cultural and entertainment leader.  The Performing Arts Center promotes artistic diversity by presenting pop, alternative rock, chamber orchestra music as well as world music superstars.  More than a quarter of a million visitors enjoy Broadway musicals, world-class ballet, legendary icons and comedy shows. Operating in conjunction with the College of Fine Arts the performing arts center is  also the perfect setting for students to learn hands-on, the world of performing arts. This dedication to the arts goes way beyond the city limits of Austin. The Austin Performing Arts Center was founded with  the Teresa Lozano Institute of Latin America studies and Artes Americas. Through this cooperation Latin American artist can bring their art and culture to the United States which facilitates an incredible exchange of ideas between countries.
