Capital City Sothebys supports Rotary Service Austin project and builds wheelchair ramps for housebound citizens

Associates from Capital City Sotheby’s West Austin and Lake Travis offices lent their support today for the Rotary Club of Austin’s Fall Kick-off to Service Austin Day, a one-day citywide service project.  As a precursor to the official Service Austin Day to be held March 7, 2009, volunteers worked alongside member of the Texas Ramp Project, LLC to build wheelchair ramps for housebound homeowners.  In some cases, these homeowners had not been able to leave their homes due to major medical issues, and this provided them a much-needed means of reconnecting with the outside world.

Todd Smith, Project Chair for the 2009 Service Austin Day and also a Capital City Sotheby’s Associate, commented that “working with the Texas Ramp Project is an incredibly rewarding and memorable way for our Associates to give back to our community.  This is the second time we’ve participated with TRP, and we hope to make this a long-standing recrurrent community service project for our company.”

In its inaugural year in 2008, the Rotary Club of Austin sponsored the Service Austin Day project and placed over 450 volunteers at nearly two-dozen citywide locations for this one-day community-wide service endeavor.  Smith hopes to have 1,000 volunteers at approximately 50 locations, and has recently announced an alliance with Austin Partners in Education (APIE) and the City of Austin Park & Recreation Department (PARD) to coordinate logistics, locations, and project management functions at schools and parks around the city.
