Austin gets ready to welcome the new prestigious 36-story downtown development. Block 21 will consist of the 250 room W hotel, 165 condominiums and the new, spectacular KLRU’s"Austin City Limits" venue.
The hotel portion of the project is expected to take 30 months to build out so should be finished by fall of 2010. The condominium portion of the development is expected to take approximately 36 months so residents will be able to move into the completed condos sometime around May 2011.
More than 85% of the current 165 condos are currently under contract and many have been combined to create an even larger unit. The average price of these sophisticated, unique condos are 1.1 million and start in the high 400s.
Construction this week will begin with the excavation of the three levels of underground parking that the project will enjoy. The total cost of the development will be $295 million dollars and is expected to generate more than 1,000 jobs during the duration of the construction as well as create hundreds of permanent jobs after it is finished.
