Forbes Magazine recently reviewed 100 metropolitan areas and, once again, Austin came out on top. The study, as reported in the Austin Business Journal, credits the booming film industry, the University of Texas, and employers Dell and IBM for the substantial lead over the competition.
Cities were quantified "by their anticipated gross domestic product growth between 2007 and 2012." Other cities which fared well, including Atlanta and Seattle, all have quality, technology-driven career opportunites and universities. However, with an expected 32% increase in the value of goods and services produced in the area, Austin came out on top.
