a 22-year-old woman, while detained for a minor traffic incident, frees herself and steals a Travis County Sherriff’s partol car and led polie on a hi-speed car chase before crashing the cruiser into an apartment building fence and attempted to flee on foot.
It all started with a misdemeanor, but quickly escalated when the officer allegedly observed her with some wacky-tobakky, and she was placed handcuffed in the backseat of the police vehicle.
While the officer was processing her arrest, the woman freed herself from the back seat, climbed into the front of the cruiser, and drove off in the vehicle.
This gets my vote for the "Keep Austin Weird" story of the week!
