Austin Texas Real Estate figures are looking good. According to the real estate tracking website Trulia.com sales volume is up over 8% for the three week period from September 8th through the 29th. This sales volume increase is particularly impressive considering that a year ago we were in the midst of tax incentives for home buyers. Austin home prices are down slightly compared with a year ago, most likely affected by a continuing stream of foreclosures and a nationally weak economy. The average price per square foot for Austin real estate is $102, down almost 9% from a year ago.
The lower home values make it a great time to invest in Austin real estate. As Austin’s employment picture continues to outshine the rest of the state, as well as much of the nation, real estate recovery should happen more quickly here than most places. I am from the D.C. area and am looking to move to Austin. I’m not familiar with the area but have heard so many good things about Austin. Please suggest areas of Austin that are desirable. I’m looking for a nice, middle class, friendly and safe neighborhood.
