Austin Texas is a top metropolitan area, according to the most recent MetroMonitor report compiled by the Brookings Institute. The MetroMonitor researches and comp
iles data on the largest 100 metropolitan areas in the United States, examining their economic health. Austin Texas is one of a handful of cities that has had consistent job growth over the past year. Austin Texas has also “recovered its pre-recession level of output”.
The Brookings Institute examines employment, unemployment, housing and gross metropolitan product among other things. In its examination Austin Texas came up as one of the top 21 performing metropolitan areas in the United States. In addition Austin had the fourth lowest change in employment. The report is interesting and backs up a general consensus that Austin is a successful city that is recovering quite nicely.
