Austin’s population is expected to grow by 15% between now and 2012. But that’s nothing compared to the projected fiscal growth, according to a new study. The results show Austin topping the list of the 100 most populated metro areas in gross domestic product, expected to grow over 32% by 2012.
The study was conducted by Forbes Magazine and cites the booming tech industry and the University of Texas as key reasons for the economic explosion. And artistic folk need not despair; the music and film industry are also listed as contributing factors to Austin’s financial rise.
