Austin Population Growth Tops Texas Cities for 2006

Census reports show Austin grew 21.1 percent since 2000

The USA Today has published a synopsis of data generated by the US Census Bureau, which among other things showed Houston’s overall growth pushed it ahead of Miami as one of the nation’s largest cities, however Austin – fueled by growth in nearly every market segment, topped all major metropolitain areas in the State of Texas for percentage growth from 2000 –  2006.

We certainly know that with all of the residential and commercial developments and transportation infrastructure improvements underway, including IH-30, the new major Toll Roads, and the upcoming light-rail network stretching from Leander to Downtown, Austin is looking ahead to effectively manage this growth and address the needs of our surging population.
