According to a new report, Austin’s job market remains strong. The information, as reported in the Austin Business Journal, shows that the area now has 773,300 jobs.
Just in March, the number of jobs grew by 6,400, mostly in the leisure and hospitality fields. Over the last year, the biggest job market growth continues to be in business and professional services, while manufacturing jobs actually had a loss of 1.2%.
Across the state, there were 213,700 new jobs over the last year. The Texas unemployment rate is 4.2%, while Austin’s increased slightly but remains low at 3.6%.
With so many growing companies and such an active housing market, Austin continues to grow despite economic woes.
