Once again, Austin lands near the top of a national list of thriving cities. The study by Forbes Magazine, as reported in the Austin Business Journal, looked at the 50 top metro areas in the nation. They analyzed unemployment numbers, job-growth numbers, and median home price information. Austin came out third, with Oklahoma City and San Antonio at number one and two, respectively.
Austin had the lowest unemployment rate in all 50 areas studied. Houston and Dallas also made the list, further reiterating that Texas, and specifically Austin, is gracefully weathering the financial downturn in the rest of the country.
