Seton Medical Center is Austin’s largest Medical and surgical care center and is the only facility in central Texas that performs heart transplants. It also offers comprehensive diagnostic services and boasts regional specialty programs like the Seton Heart specialty Care and transplant Center. there is also Shivers Cancer Program and the Marialice Shivers Regional Neonatal Center. The Seton Medical Center was also one of the first hospitals in the state to receive certification as a Primary Stroke Center.
Seton is embarking on a five-story, 124,000 square foot expansion that will offer obstetrical services, At its completion the hospital will have the capacity for up to 5,000 births per year. There will be thirty new postpartum rooms, a continuing care nursery, two full-term nurseries, and an additional 60 in-patient beds.
